Marantz CD 70 Premium CD Player

Our Take

The Marantz CD 70 is a welcome addition to the modern HiFi lineup, bringing the enjoyment of physical music back into focus. Succeeding the popular CD6007, it combines Marantz's signature musical character with improved digital performance and a beautifully refined design.

What we particularly appreciate is its focus on the essentials: a high-quality DAC, Marantz HDAM-SA2 circuitry and a dedicated headphone amplifier. Rather than packing in unnecessary features, the CD 70 is designed to help you get more enjoyment out of your CD collection.

With the added convenience of high-resolution USB playback, it's a great choice for anyone who still values owning their music and enjoying a proper listening session.

Pair it with the Marantz MODEL 70, and you've got yourself an elegant, straightforward HiFi system built around the music.

Product Details

The Marantz CD 70 is a dedicated HiFi CD player designed to bring out the best in your music collection. Combining decades of Marantz audio expertise with modern technology, it offers a simple and enjoyable way to rediscover your favourite albums with greater clarity, detail and musical warmth.

At the heart of the CD 70 is an upgraded high-performance digital-to-analogue converter (DAC), which turns the digital information stored on your CDs into music you can enjoy through your amplifier and speakers. Together with Marantz's proprietary HDAM-SA2 circuitry, it is designed to deliver natural vocals, well-defined instruments and an engaging listening experience.

Beyond playing conventional CDs, the CD 70 also features a convenient front USB-A port, allowing you to enjoy music files stored on a USB drive. It supports high-resolution audio formats including FLAC, WAV, ALAC and DSD, giving you more ways to enjoy your personal music library without needing additional equipment.

For those who enjoy private listening, the CD 70 includes a dedicated headphone amplifier with adjustable gain, allowing you to connect your headphones directly to the player. Two selectable digital filters also let you fine-tune the sound presentation according to your listening preferences.

Connecting the CD 70 to your existing HiFi system is straightforward, with standard RCA analogue outputs alongside optical and coaxial digital outputs for those who prefer using an external DAC or compatible amplifier.

Finished in Marantz's timeless design with a solid metal front panel, the CD 70 looks right at home alongside modern Marantz amplifiers, particularly the MODEL 70.

Whether you're revisiting your favourite CDs or building a dedicated stereo HiFi system, the Marantz CD 70 offers a refined and rewarding way to enjoy physical music in the modern age.
