Our Take

The Kanto TUK has always been one of our favourite powered bookshelf speakers for listeners who want something more serious than the usual all-in-one speaker system, without having to invest in separate amplifiers, DACs and multiple components.

What makes the Kanto TUK particularly interesting is its use of Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeters, paired with 5.25-inch aluminium woofers. This isn't the typical driver combination you'd expect from a convenient powered speaker, and it's one of the reasons the TUK has remained such an interesting option in Kanto's lineup.

The AMT tweeters are designed to deliver fast, precise high-frequency reproduction, bringing out the finer details in vocals, instruments and recordings. Combined with the rigid aluminium woofers, the TUK aims to deliver a clean, detailed and dynamic presentation with satisfying bass performance.

We also like the flexibility of its built-in DSP and selectable 80Hz crossover. If you decide to add a subwoofer later, the TUK can redirect the deeper bass frequencies to the subwoofer, allowing the main speakers to concentrate on delivering clearer mids and highs.
